Meghan Markle launched a new podcast named ‘Archetypes’ on Spotify. And it is already in the news – not for inviting the tennis great Serena Williams, but for besting Joe Rogan’s ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ which was the frontrunner in the US until now.
The podcast’s theme explores the labels holding women back, and Markle plans to speak to women who conquered different fields. It is also the most-listened-to podcast in countries like the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
The hour-long first episode titled ‘The Misconceptions of Ambition’ discussed Serena Williams’ ambitions, her step back from professional tennis, and how the Duchess struggled to perform royal engagements after her son’s nursery caught fire during a royal tour to South Africa.
The Joe Rogan Experience topped the rankings in 2020, especially when he moved his show exclusively onto the Swedish streaming platform. Although he was criticized for spreading misinformation about the COVID-19 virus and the helpfulness of alternative remedies, Rogan claimed that this scrutiny gained him many subscribers.
Prince Harry also made a cameo in the podcast – or ‘popped in,’ as Markle described it, and gave a brief greeting to Williams, who also attended the couples’ wedding in 2018.
