The biggest news out of the Disney Parks is that Disney Animation and Disney Imagineering have been talking about bringing recent hit films like Encanto, Coco, and Zootopia to Walt Disney World Resort areas.
Imagineering’s Walt Disney Animation’s Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee and Chris Beatty joined Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro on the stage. They teased us about what they were thinking as far as the possibilities go. Early concept art for the potential theme park attractions was also shown at D23 Expo.

In Animal Kingdom, DinoLand U.S.A. will have prehistoric replications making way for an entire Zootopia area highlighting the various boroughs in the film. Some parks of DinoLand have already been cleared out and destroyed as Shanghai Disneyland is set to debut the first iteration of a Zootopia area at their resort. The work has been done and planned out, so we think this one is likely on the way. Also announced was another Moana area at Animal Kingdom was also announced – it could be a dark water ride from the looks of the art.
These ideas are excellent, and these films will make their way into the parks. Tomorrowland and the Treehouse at Disneyland are in dire need of updates. With these concepts, we can see what will happen in the next 5-10 years.
