It was long rumored that Google will roll out a new design language for its Android TV Play Store. And we have the latest leaks that corroborate those rumors. Google is centering on making the apps on the Play Store more discoverable. Moreover, the redesign adds an overall better visual look.
The search giant emphasizes that users will get a sneak peek of each app listing that will include an auto-playing video in the background. Users will also see personalized recommendations for new apps. Coming to the main home page, the new Google Play Store will advertise apps and games compatible with Android TV with distinct themes.
Sections such as Entertainment, Games, Productivity, and Sports will also be extended. The changes will make sure that the Store’s 5,000+ apps and games are easier to sort through for users. The issue with the current design is that it conceals less popular apps.
9to5Google says that Google confirmed the new Play Store will be rolling out to Android TV users over the next few weeks. Although the majority will get the updated app, older Android TV devices won’t get it.
Google added that the updated Play Store won’t have a section for Play Pass. Despite the fact that it still does technically work with Android TV, it won’t have a devoted section on the TV as it does on smartphones and tablets.
