Asus has finally unveiled the much anticipated ROG Phone II. The phone which is a gaming device boasts of the unique specification that would even make the S10 or One Plus 7 Pro seem like a budget phone. Serving the rumor mills for a while, the phone has been launched in China with much fervor. Seeing the success of the original ROG Phone, Asus decided to unveil its successor and it does seem the most powerful Android smartphone in the world.
The phone is powered by the newly launched, literally new, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus which makes this phone the world’s first phone to sport that powerful processor. The chipset provides 15% extra power than a flagship that is powered by the regular Snapdragon 855. The phone also features a whopping 12GB RAM, which is gladly the only option. This will make gaming look like a cakewalk. And yes, the cakewalk is partly made possible by the 6.5 inches AMOLED display, with huge bezels but it does have dual stereo speakers. The display also has a 120Hz display. Yes, the world’s first phone, again to do so. Users can easily switch between 6-Hz, 90H, and 120Hz.
As of now, no games support 120Hz display but everyday usage must feel pretty smooth. Asus ROG Phone 2 comes in either 128GB or 512GB storage options which comes with UFS 3.0 flash storage. The cameras are the same as the Asus 6z except, the ROG Phone 2 has a separate front camera.
To keep things ticking, the phone comes with a whopping 6,000mAh battery which will last for at least 2 days, as claimed by the manufacturer. The pricing is not known as of yet. The phone will launch globally in the first week of September. Stay tuned for more updates.
