About 3 months ago, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 Pro in India. It was also around this time that DxOMark started testing the cameras of the budget phone. So, it was time Redmi K20 Pro cropped up their suggestion list. It turns out, that they actually did test the phone and it matches 2018’s Pixel 3 shoulder to shoulder.
The Redmi K20 Pro scored received an extra-ordinary score of 102. The Asus 6z scored 104 which also freshly went through the DxOMark camera tests. The K20 Pro received a score of 108 and 89 points in the photography and video department, respectively. But the videos captured from the phone aren’t really up to the mark.
The Redmi K20 Pro features a triple camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
According to the DxOMark review, “In general, the camera is capable of producing images with good exposure and a good texture/noise balance in most situations. However, its limited dynamic range and visible color casts in some conditions slightly negate the overall positive picture.”
The camera-reviewing firm added that the smartphone extracts the target exposure with good color rendering in bright colors, indoors and outdoors. However, in low light scenarios, the K20 Pro “controls noise very well and overall does fairly well,” quoting DxOMark. The telephoto lens loses a lot of detail and captures too much noise. The firm suggests that there’s room for improvement in ultra-wide shots.
