The update mainly fixes the color shift issue that affected some Pixel 4 devcies.

Pixel 4 & 4 XL, Pixel 3 and XL, Pixel 3a and XL, Pixel 2 and XL will receive the January Android security update. The update also fixes the color shift issue that Pixel 4 and 4 XL were enduring. The January update also adds the Smooth Display support for the WeChat app.

The new update fixes the speaker audio quality improvements during voice calls on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, while the audio sound quality during video capture received a boost on the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL duo. As mentioned, the January 2020 update also introduced smooth display support for the WeChat app. This means that the app’s interface will now be smoother on the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, thanks to their 90Hz display.

Perhaps the most prominent fix is for the color-shifting issue at lower brightness levels on the Pixel 4 XL. The display produced an abnormal color tone that produced shadows with a green or red color cast when the brightness was below 30% or lower. The January 2020 update also fixes the Wi-Fi crash, notification display in UI, the flashlight toggle function,  and connectivity issues.
