GoPro has announced two new high-end action cameras – Hero 8 Black and the Max. The Hero 8 Black is the successor to the Hero 7 Black and additions a new body design that incorporates GoPro’s signature mounting system right into the case which means that there is no need to add-on frames to attach it to selfie sticks, suction mounts, body mounts. On the other hand, the GoPro Max is the successor to the GoPro Fusion and holds a 360-degree camera.
The Hero 8 Black will feature a front-facing microphone for better audio and a single flap on the right that will house the microSD card slot, battery, and USB Type-C port. The Display Mod is an external 1.9-inch display that can fold in the front or back and the Light Mod is waterproof up to 10m.
The camera can be now used for professional blogging as the Media Mod highlights a built-in shotgun microphone and two cold shoe mounts for a secondary display and LED fill-light. It shoots at resolutions between 1080p and 4K and will come with an improved HyperSmooth 2.0 stabilization for more fluid footage. Moreover, the mods for the Hero 8 will be available for pre-order in December and will include the Light Mod for $49.99; Display Mod for $79.99, and a Media Mod for $79.99. Further, Hero 8 Black will be made available from October 20 for a price of $399.
The GoPro Max is actually the smaller version of the Fusion and comes with built-in GPS that can shoot up to 5.6K resolution 360-degree footage at 30fps. It can live stream at up to 1080p and has a color display on one side. You can pre-order the GoPro Max priced at $499, the shipments will begin from October 24.
