Instagram has been a comforting source for many of us in the lockdown. For some, it was even before the pre-COVID period. You get to see your friends, crushes, and celebrities at their best. Various filters and features attract many people to try it out many times a day. One of its prominent features is Stories, “inspired” by Snapchat.
The best part about Stories is that it disappears after 24 hours. So, if you didn’t open your Instagram today (you are an angel!), you might miss out on what people have been up to. The Stories drive a lot of revenue for many and entertainment for us. Sometimes, the Stories are so fabulous that we want to store them in our personal gallery. Either you are stalking someone or want to save your own story – whatever the reason, I am not here to judge but help you. With the following methods, you’ll be able to download Instagram images and videos with just a few extra steps. Scroll below for detailed steps.

How to download Instagram Stories
Keep in mind that these methods can only download Instagram Stories from public accounts and not private. Also, if possible, take the creators’ consent to download their Stories. It’s the least you can do.
Method 1: Archive your own Stories
If you want to download your own Stories, this would be a great option. You can also activate the Archive option that will automatically save all Stories you publish on your Instagram account. Follow the steps below to activate archiving:
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app.
Step 2: Tap on Settings.
Step 3: Go to Privacy.
Step 4: Now click on ‘Story Settings.’
Step 5: Go to the ‘Saving’ section and activate the options ‘Save Story to Archive’ for Android phones and ‘Save Story to Camera Roll’ for iOS.
Every time you post an Instagram story, it will be saved in the ‘Archive’ section. To access the ‘Archive’ section, open your Instagram account and tap on the Archive icon. You will see the Archive screen wherein you will find all stories characterized by date. Your Instagram stories will now be saved forever in your Instagram account. You can re-use or repost your saved stories which can then be created into Instagram Stories Highlights.
Method 2: Download Instagram Story Using Story saver apps
You can download third-party applications that will let you download Instagram Stories. The first app is Story Saver for Instagram Video Downloader Instore by Appyhigh Technology. The app lets you download Instagram Stories – images and videos – with ease. You can log in with your Instagram account and save other users’ Stories. The app can also download display pictures.
Another Android app is Story, Video & Reels Downloader for Instagram, developed by us. Simply copy-paste the link of the Story that you download. It will save the Stories on your device storage.
iOS users can download Story Saver ∞ , which is self-explanatory. It costs some ₹400, but it is the best app for you if you constantly save Instagram Stories.
Method 3: Screen recorder and Screenshot
Screen recording is the most efficient functionality yet creepy – depending on what you will be using it for. The same assumption applies here. I know I am suggesting the option, but it’s one of the easiest out there. You can download some third-party screen-recording applications if your phone doesn’t come with a pre-installed option. AZ Screen Recorder, Screen Recorder & Video Recorder, ADV Screen Recorder, Screen Recorder, Super Screen Recorder, etc., are some of the best options. iOS users are blessed to have a built-in option.
If you want to save a photo Story offline, you can simply screenshot the picture. For some modern phones, it just takes a click or swipe. You can then crop the picture as you need.
Method 4: Save Stories manually
You can save your Instagram Stories manually. Opt for this option when you don’t want to save every Story to your Gallery/Camera Roll. Once again, this option is to save your own Stories and not anyone else’s.
Step 1: Go to your Instagram account and view your active story.
Step 2: Tap on the three dots at the bottom of the story and click on ‘Save.’
Step 3: Now choose ‘Save Photo/Video’ to save the image or video stories, or just select ‘Save Story’ to save all your Stories in the form of a single video.
Even though this method is straightforward, it is tedious since you will need to download each of the stories manually once they are posted. The video will be in vertical format.
Method 5: Download Instagram Stories on PC
You can also download Instagram Stories on your computer. Follow the steps to do so.
Step 1: Visit Storysaver.net on your computer (or even on your phone’s browser in desktop mode) to download Instagram Stories.
Step 2: Wait for the website to load. Now enter the Instagram account username in the search box and hit the ‘Download’ button.
Step 3: To see the account’s Stories scroll down to see the stories.
Step 4: Click on ‘Save as video’ to download the Stories on your device.
Step 5: You can also download pictures and videos from Instagram. Open the Instagram account and copy the link of the photo or video that you want to download.
Step 6: Now, visit the website once again and paste the link in the search box. Now click on ‘Go.’
Step 7: When the photo loads on the webpage, scroll down and click on ‘Download Now.’
