List of top 10 OTT Platforms in India with price

OTT (over-the-top) isn’t a new word in 2021; people have known it for quite a while. Cable TV was the default medium for entertainment for many years (it still is), but urban life has adapted quickly to the scores of streaming services that India has recently seen.

BIGFlix by Reliance Entertainment was the first dependent Indian OTT platform that was launched back in 2008. Fast forward to 2010, Digivive was the nation’s first OTT mobile application known as nexGTv. It gave access to on-demand content and live TV.

Since 3G & 4G became ubiquitous, OTT made its path spontaneously into our media devices. I detest the cable network and disconnected it permanently in favor of OTT platforms. As for news, I watch it live on YouTube.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, shooting had ceased for some time, but those who had OTT subscription(s), could watch anything, anytime they wanted.

OTT has progressed to a level where new movies are being released on streaming services, in tandem with the theatres. That is saying something. In a few years, OTT might see an influx of many more regional platforms.

But, with this arises the problem of actually selecting a worthy OTT service since some cost a bomb for the common folks. So, I curated a list of the top 10 OTT Platforms in India with price, which will help you choose a worthy one.

Which OTT platform is best for movies?

It depends on what your taste is. However, all the aforementioned platforms will give you a great movie experience.

Is MX player legal?

Yes, it is absolutely legal as an MX player is a video player, not a video downloader. The free version has some good content.

Which is the number 1 OTT platform in India?

Disney+Hotstar is the number 1 OTT platform in India, with approximately 300 million active users and over 360 million downloads.

These are the top 10 OTT Platforms in India. I read somewhere that OTT isn’t just a metro concept. Even though these streaming sites are relatively new in rural areas, cheap data plans have made the possibility of getting entertained on a mobile device.

Regional platforms such as MX Player, Jio Cinema, Eros Now, etc., have captured the market of entertainment, which is what made our lockdown time quite fruitful and enjoyable.

I am subscribed to most OTT platforms as it serves most of my entertainment needs; which streaming site are you subscribed to? Do you think it’s the future of entertainment? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
