D23 Expo was capped off with a bang. It was announced that Disneyland’s Avengers Campus would be getting a new attraction to expand the Marvel Studios-themed resort area with a new multiversal e-ticket ride. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was on the stage to declare the third attraction, an entirely new concept.
Plans were lurking for a third attraction when the Avengers Campus was initially announced. This would join Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and WEB Slingers.
The earlier theme was Wakanda, as ‘Black Panther’ was the biggest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This was before Chadwick Boseman passed away and how the pandemic caused the park’s unexpected shutdown.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said, “The fun thing about Marvel is the characters. In this new attraction, you can fight alongside all of the Avengers against all the villains. And you’re going to meet a new character called King Thanos. This is a Thanos that won. And the Avengers are not too happy about that. And you have to help them.”
“This has always been our vision for Avengers Campus – we want more stories, more heroes, more villains, and more land to play with too. You spun fans into a frenzy this summer when you announced the Multiverse Saga of films. And then you gave us even more amazing intel yesterday. That’s why I think we should give our D23 fans a preview of our plans for the park. Now we’re bringing the Multiverse to Avengers Campus. Now working with your team, Imagineers have come up with a concept that is entirely new,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.
The concept art of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga was then shared by a multitude of heroes that, included Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Captain Carter, Thor, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and She-Hulk, who face off a new version of Thanos, with a big spiky crown and white beard.
A name and timetable for the new attraction it yet to be finalized.
