One of the most expensive streaming services in India, Netflix is vying for the top spot by soon to be introduced weekly plans (mobile-only). These weekly plans include a beginner bargain from ₹65, ₹125 basic plan (SD only), ₹165 for the standard plan (2 devices, HD), and ₹200 for the ultra plan (4 devices, 4K).
The American streaming service is also planning to introduce a new monthly for ₹250 per month for mobile-only access. It said in an official statement, “We are always looking for ways to make Netflix more enjoyable and accessible. We will be testing different options in select countries where members can, for example, watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter increments of time. Not everyone will see these options and we may never roll out these specific plans beyond the tests,” the company said in a statement.”
Arriving at Netflix’s opponents, Hotstar is a free medium but you need to pay ₹365 per year for a VIP content and ₹999 annually for a premium plan. Amazon Prime Video chargers ₹999 annually, but it’s bundled with other perks such as Amazon Prime’s faster deliveries and Amazon Prime Music. ZEE5 is cheapest amongst the lot keeping in mind the ₹99 1-month pack which includes movies, shows live tv and support for up to 5 devices; other packs are ₹198 monthly plan which has all the usual picks with Gaana Plus subscription, for 5 devices and an annual ₹999 plan with all the above benefits (no GAANA+) and support for 5 devices.
