Sony Playstation 5 will debut with entertainment services, such as Netflix, Spotify, Apple TV Plus, Peacock, Amazon Prime Video, Twitch, Disney Plus, Hulu, and YouTube. This signifies that the gaming console can be used for more than just gaming.
In a blog post, Sony confirmed some popular streaming apps will be available on the PS5 console when it launches on November 12th. HBO Max won’t be available as it’s in a contract dispute with Amazon and Roku. That won’t be an issue for Indian users, but it’ll be a huge blow for PS5 users in the US. Sony spokesperson confirmed that Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service, would also be available at the launch.
Sony has also confirmed that the PS5 Media Remote’s unmarked buttons would have dedicated buttons for services such as Disney Plus, Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube. Above the dedicated apps buttons, you can see the play-pause, fast forward and fast reverse controls, and some navigating controls. There are also buttons to adjust the volume and use the power settings (compatible TVs only). The above image corroborates with the statement.
This is a new and welcoming change. Sony has upped its PS5 user interface, with an individual home screen for some entertainment apps. Moreover, there will also be a Control Center to skip and pause music and switch between channels swiftly.
