Apple set the mark when it became the first trillion-dollar company in the world. Its devices have a cult following, especially the ecosystem. But one thing that the Cupertino giant has kept its iPad and MacBook devices away from is the OLED display. Many Windows laptops are embracing the trend and Apple might join them soon.
According to Apple analyst Ming-chi Kuo, Apple is working on its Mini-LEDs display technology which might be the future of its devices. This display technology would arrive in 2020 for the upcoming MacBook Pro and the iPad.
These Mini-LED panels offer similar benefits as of the OLED ones, such as a wide color gamut, localized dimming, and high contrast and dynamic range. This could also avoid the downsides of OLED, specifically the burn-in. If Kuo’s note is to be believed, the iPad Pro update will arrive in Q3 2020 with an updated A14X processor. The MacBook Pro might launch in Q4. Moreover, Kuo anticipates that Apple will deliver more Mini-LED hardware over the coming years. This raises an important question for people looking to buy a new MacBook laptop. Whether to wait for the newer technology or get the recently launched 16 inches MacBook Pro.
