Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has unveiled the successor to Redmi 7 – the Redmi 8 in India. The launch comes after the Redmi 8A was unveiled in the market. Redmi 8 concentrates on two aspects of a smartphone – cameras, and battery.
Specifications
The Redmi 8 sports a 6.2 inches dot-notch display with HD+ resolution. The screen is protected by an unknown version of Gorilla Glass, along with P2i splash resistance. As for the processor, the phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC coupled with 3GB or 4GB RAM options. The base storage is set at 32GB with another option of a 64GB variant. It can be expanded up to 512 GB via a microSD card.
On the camera side of things, the newly-launched smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup that includes a 12MP primary sensor and a 2MP sensor. The selfie shooter is an 8 MP sensor.
Redmi 8 has a face unlock feature and a fingerprint sensor (located at the back of the device) for biometric authentication. The phone equips a mammoth 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, which uses a Type-C slot. The phone will be available in Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue.
Pricing
Redmi 8’s 3GB+32GB variant is priced at ₹7,999 while the 4GB+64GB variant will cost you ₹8,999. The device will be up for grabs on Mi.com and Flipkart and will go on sale from October 12.
