Chinese electronics company Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is gearing up for a new release. According to rumors and Xiaomi CEO, a Redmi K30 will be unveiled as soon as December. Its predecessor, the Redmi K20 series is already a hit in the tech world and if the K30 improves upon its flaws, the phone could be deemed near-perfect.
New rumors point to an inclusion of a 120Hz refresh rate on the display. Currently, only Asus ROG Phone II has a 120Hz display while the OnePlus 8 Pro might include it in the future. XDA Developers has corroborated this leak with 2 screenshots. They also confirm that users can switch between 60Hz and 120Hz on the Redmi K30. A 90Hz option is missing.

Speaking of the camera, the upcoming phone would include the unreleased Sony IMX686 sensor, which is assumed to be a 60MP image sensor. If it’s true, Redmi K30 could be the first device to sport Sony’s upcoming sensor.
Another rumor suggests that the Redmi K30 could debut with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The report adds that a new method called “isBroadSideFingerprint” has been added in the recent versions of MIUI 11. Another graphic titled “core_scan_gesture_broadside” was spotted that shows a general smartphone with a dual hole-punch front camera and a right-side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun announced at the Xiaomi Developer Conference that the Redmi K30 5G smartphone will be launched in China in the coming month. A Redmi K30 5G variant is also in the works, which apparently will launch in December while the 4G variant will launch in 2020.
