Whatsapp’s New Group Video Calling Feature

The much-awaited feature of Whatsapp is finally here, back at Facebooks F8 developer conference in May, the app had announced that it was going to bring group calling in audio as well as video calls this year.

And it fulfilled its promise on Tuesday 30th July 2018.

Whatsapp's new group video calling feature

The feature goes live for all the Android and IOS users around the globe. The group calling feature supports conference calling up to four people simultaneously regardless of where they are. Just like chats the calls will be the end to end encrypted too. And the feature is set up to work even under less than stellar network condition.

How to use this feature?

In order to add a new participant to an ongoing call, you simply have to tap on the ‘add participant’ button at the top right corner of the app. The participant then receives a notification to join the call and can then decide whether to accept or decline the invitation. For now, one group call can support up to 4 people.

Make sure you have the latest version of the WhatsApp application.

Whatsapp is trying to make the chatting experience better and better time and time again. With new features like admin controls, muting options, forwarded messages alert and now this one. It surely is trying to up its game.
