Apple did the most Apple-y things once again. They made a pill-shaped notch and gave it a name, ‘Dynamic Island.’ It has become a significant talking point of the iPhone 14 series, and it appears that Android OEMs are not behind in copying it on their phones.
Realme and Xiaomi have posted comments in the last few days suggesting they look at the ‘Dynamic Island’ as a future software feature, and Realme is keener on the idea.
According to MySmartPrice, Realme has asked its community members if they want a “dream island.” It doesn’t refer to Apple’s features, but the company’s description of the design does make it clear that it could imitate Apple’s creation.
Realme’s forum post reads, “Can you imagine what if Realme UI added a software trick to turn the camera cutout into a multifunctional feature? The UI around the camera hole could morph into different shapes and sizes to display incoming phone calls, alerts, notifications, and more.”
iPhone 14’s Dynamic Island is a pill-shaped cutout on the display that covers the front-facing camera and the Face ID technology. It is a unique way to hide the front-facing camera, as many Android phones did before.
The development of this imitation sounds very early, but Realme may very well include a similar feature on a future device.
Even if Android OEMs work on identical features, we will see it soon.
