You have lost the “X” factor, boss: Poco to Realme

We all have been noticing this for almost a year now. The Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi and Realme have been going at each other as they call each other a copycat on Twitter. To invoke censure, they have chosen Twitter as the platform of choice and now the public spat has reached a point where POCO has been dragged into the matter. Poco India general manager C Manmohan quoted Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth’s tweet when the latter indirectly suggested that rival Poco “…should behave… no matter how insecure you are of your competitor’s growth.”

To which Manmohan quoted Sheth’s tweet and wrote, “Hilarious! A real #CopyCat brand that copied almost everything is giving a lecture. Instead of advice, maybe try to think of some original ideas to stop declining sales. Why should anyone be worried about a brand that declined 50% last quarter? अब वो “X” factor नहीं रहा boss!! [SIC] (You have lost the “X” factor, boss).”

Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain and head of marketing at Xiaomi Anuj Sharma earlier this month threw the copycat jibe at Realme on Twitter. To which Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth responded in a sarcastic way about Xiaomi calling Realme a copycat. Also, a Twitter user tagged Sheth in a tweet and asked what he had to say about it and soon after the tweet Sheth said, “A real innovative brand and market leader won’t behave like that.”

He also said that Xiaomi was being insecure and that dignity and ethics need to be maintained at all costs. “Basic dignity and ethics should be maintained no matter how insecure you are of your competitor’s growth.”
